I am a communal repository of love, joy and energy. I would be nothing without the generations of people who shaped and crafted me to what I am today. I am a ricocheting pinball that bounces from one being to the next, passing along ideas, sharing knowledge, remembering all the while that I am here for this exact moment.

I am potter, I am steward, I am chef, I am sculptor and woodsman and printmaker and herbalist and musician and friend.

At the core of my work is a visceral and energetic response to what is directly in front of me filtered through my past experiences. I am fascinated with the things we hold onto. With what keeps us safe when we need to feel safe. I am enamored with objects that bring us together.

My affection for material and craft lies within the spirit of material itself and its inexplicable ability to take on a life of its own. The raw potential of a log pile, a mound of clay. This energy sometimes offers itself to be redirected, channeled and captured, if only for a moment in the scale of its perpetual life cycle.

I rejoice in the world when I find evidence of time in process. When I find something that shows me how much time has passed, mind numbingly, and how things are different now. When I find cloth wrapped around trees that has been twisted and turned and bleached in the sun. How long has this been here? Look at this texture! Why is this here? In these fleeting moments of discovery, I feel captured, captivated and complete, as if somehow the material is reaching out and holding me. THIS feeling is what I seek in my making.
